Anastacia dürfte nach ihrem Vorsingen bei Sony Music wohl mit weit offenen Armen empfangen worden sein - kaum hatte man das Potential der Frau mit der ausdrucksstarken Stimme erkannt, schien man sie regelrecht zu hofieren. Man ließ sich mit der Produktion Zeit, ließ Produzenten- und Tontechnikergrößen antreten, die man mit so klangvollen Namen wie Mariah Carey, Céline Dion, N*Sync, Color Me Badd oder Boyzone verbindet, holte sich Studiomusiker, die auch ihr Instrument wirklich beherrschen ... alles Dinge, die im hart umkämpften Musikgeschäft eigentlich keine Selbstverständlichkeit sind (heute sowieso nicht mehr).
Das Ergebnis kann sich jedenfalls hören lassen - Musik, die irgendwo zwischen Pop und R'n'B hin- und herschwankt, dazwischen ein paar der unvermeidlichen Balladen; trotzdem hat man nur selten das Gefühl, daß einem hier Material zu hören gegeben wird, das der Interpretin "aufgedrängt" wurde. Die Stimme selbst tröstet auch darüber hinweg, daß man die Musik sehr glatt produziert hat - mit ein paar Haken und Ösen wäre da sicherlich noch ein Tick mehr machbar gewesen. Trotzdem - ein bemerkenswertes Debüt. |
